Pastor Chides Donald Trump For Electioneering At Her Church

Donald Trump

Washington (Telephost) - The pastor of a black church interrupted Donald Trump’s remarks in Flint, Michigan, on Wednesday as the Republican presidential nominee began to attack his Democratic opponent, Hillary Clinton.

“Mr. Trump, I invited you here to thank us for what we’ve done in Flint, not to give a political speech,” the Rev. Faith Green Timmons told Trump as she approached the businessman.

Trump turned to the pastor and immediately changed course. “Oh, oh, oh, OK, that’s good. Then I’m going to back on Flint. OK,” he said, before addressing the community once more.

Trump spoke in front of about 50 Flint residents at Bethel United Methodist Church, which has distributed aid and water to the community during the lead crisis that started in 2014. The GOP nominee praised residents for their response to the crisis, before launching into an attack against Clinton and her support for trade agreements such as NAFTA. Earlier in the day, he toured the city’s water treatment plant.

IRS regulations bar tax-exempt churches like the one Trump spoke at from participating in electioneering. Timmons released a statement prior to Trump’s visit, clarifying that his presence at the church “in no way represents an endorsement of his candidacy.”

“What we pray is that it conveys a final example of a faithful, intelligent, historically African-American congregation at work, serving and volunteering among the people of Flint as we work through this crisis of national impact. We cannot let this story drift from national attention for any reason,” she added.

Clinton releases more medical info after pneumonia diagnosis

Hillary Clinton leaves her daughter Chelsea’s home in New York, New York, United States

New York (Telephost) - Hillary Clinton’s campaign released an updated letter from her doctor Wednesday, following her disclosure over the weekend that she had been diagnosed with pneumonia.

Her physician Lisa Bardack wrote that Clinton’s pneumonia was mild, non-contagious and bacterial, and diagnosed by a CT scan Friday. She is taking the antibiotic Levaquin for the middle lobe pneumonia. “The remainder of her complete physical exam was normal and she is in excellent mental condition,” Bardack wrote.

Bardack also disclosed that Clinton had an ear infection last January, and is taking medication for her hypothyroidism. The candidate is also taking Coumadin. “My overall impression is that Mrs. Clinton has remained healthy and has not developed new medical conditions this year other than a sinus and ear infection and her recently diagnosed pneumonia,” Bardack said. “She is recovering well with antibiotics and rest. She continues to remain healthy and fit to serve as president of the United States.”

Clinton’s blood pressure is 100/70 and her cholesterol level is 189.

Clinton’s health has been in the spotlight since she abruptly departed a 9/11 memorial service downtown Sunday and video emerged of her stumbling and needing to be helped by several people to get into her waiting van.

Hours later, the campaign said she had been diagnosed with pneumonia the previous Friday and got overheated and dehydrated at the event. She and her aides later said Clinton didn’t faint, but became “dizzy” and recovered once inside the van. Bardack’s letter reveals that Clinton first started feeling ill more than a week before that, on Sept. 2, and was put on a short course of antibiotics.

Clinton has been staying at home since Sunday, canceling fundraisers and campaign events in California and Nevada to rest under doctor’s orders. She hits the trail again Thursday, with a rally in Greensboro, N.C. and a Congressional Hispanic Caucus event in Washington, D.C.

Clinton previously released a two-page doctor’s letter that declared her in excellent health, and detailed her previous health issues, including a concussion in 2012 that led to the discovery of a blood clot. (She suffered the concussion after becoming dehydrated from the stomach flu and fainting.)

Her letter is far more detailed than the one Donald Trump released, which does not include the GOP nominee’s blood pressure, among other things, and was written in five minutes, according to Trump’s own doctor.

Trump taped an episode of Dr. Oz, airing Thursday, where he reportedly revealed more health information about himself, including his weight and testosterone levels. It’s unclear if his campaign will release the records to the public.

Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin says bloodshed may be needed to protect conservatism

Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin

Kentucky (Telephost) - Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin said conservatives may need to turn to physical violence in order to protect the United States against contemporary liberalism.

The Republican governor put forth the controversial suggestion after speaking of the “degradation of society” during an impassioned, 15-minute speech at the Values Voter Summit in Washington, D.C., on Saturday. The provocative comments started to gain national attention at the start of this week.

“America is worth fighting for ideologically. I want us to be able to fight ideologically, mentally, spiritually, economically, so that we don’t have to do it physically. But that may, in fact, be the case,” he told the crowd.

Bevin suggested that if Democrat Hillary Clinton were elected president, she would set the nation on a dangerous course that might require bloodshed to correct. He told the audience that the “candle” of liberty might go out “on our watch.”

To hammer home his point, he paraphrased a famous quote from Founding Father Thomas Jefferson: “The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.”

“Whose blood will be shed? It may be that of those in this room. It might be that of our children and grandchildren. I have nine children,” he said. “It breaks my heart to think that it might be their blood that is needed to redeem something, to reclaim something that we, through our apathy and our indifference, have given away. Don’t let it happen.”

Bevin encouraged young conservatives to speak up, be bold, sound the alarm and wake up others. He told the conference attendees to not keep what they’ve learned from speakers and their books to themselves.

According to Bevin, too many people these days are following the example of former British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain, who infamously tried to appease Adolf Hitler and promised “peace for our time,” as opposed to his successor, Winston Churchill, who is widely celebrated for understanding and combating the threat of Nazism.

He said liberals mock conservatives into silence by accusing them of being intolerant when they speak their minds. He lamented, for instance, that many conservatives have remained silent concerning “the atrocity of abortion.”

“It’s a slippery slope. First we’re killing children. Then it’s ‘don’t ask, don’t tell.’ Now it’s this gender-bending kind of ‘don’t ask, don’t be a bigot, don’t be unreasonable, don’t be unenlightened, heaven forbid, just keep your mouth shut.’”

On Friday, at a banquet in Washington, D.C., Bevin was awarded the Distinguished Christian Statesman Award from the D. James Kennedy Center for Christian Statesmanship, a ministry of Evangelism Explosion International.

Bevin’s office has not responded to a request for comment from Yahoo News, but he did post a statement on Twitter encouraging people to listen to his comments in their entirety. He suggested that the mention of bloodshed in his remarks was a reference to military sacrifice and that “any intelligent person will easily understand the message” if they listen to the speech.

New York Attorney General Launches Inquiry Into Trump Foundation

The Trump Foundation uses money from other people to finance Trump’s high-profile charity giving.

New York (Telephost) - New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman said Tuesday that his office has launched an ongoing “inquiry” into whether the nonprofit Donald J. Trump Foundation is “complying with the laws governing charities in New York.”

The revelation about the Trump Foundation comes in the wake of numerous media reports that raised questions about whether the foundation’s operational and funding structures complied with tax laws governing nonprofits. The Huffington Post raised many of these questions in January.

Schneiderman is also leading a case against Trump and his associates over Trump University, the Republican presidential nominee’s now-shuttered seminar program.

The attorney general launched his case against Trump University in 2013 and has called the Trump U program “a fraud from beginning to end.”

Speaking on CNN Tuesday, Schneiderman said his office has been “looking into [the Trump Foundation], and we’ve had correspondence with them. I didn’t make a big deal out of it or hold a press conference.”

Trump has refused to answer questions about his namesake foundation, which has not received any money from Trump since 2008. Instead, the nonprofit giving outfit has been funded with money from people and businesses with close ties to Trump.

The Washington Post’s David Farenthold has reported that Trump used foundation money to purchase gifts for himself, and the foundation misreported a number of donations.

Trump’s charity foundation has also helped him to shore up advantageous political relationships. Earlier this year, he paid a fine of $2,500 after the Internal Revenue Service determined that he made an illegal contribution to a group backing Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi. The $25,000 donation to And Justice For All, a pro-Bondi political action committee, violated the foundation’s tax exempt regulations.
